Atlanta will be kicking off its annual SweetWater 420 Fest this Friday, April 21 – 23. Ranking alongside Bonnaroo and Hangout Fest, SweetWater 420 Fest consistently pulls big name bands and new talent alike. The multiple-day event offers multiple-sized stages for musicians from all backgrounds to showcase new material and songs that will undoubtedly entertain. The Hip Abduction is an indie-synth band based out of St. Petersburg, Florida. They’ve been recording music and playing live gigs since 2011, while experimenting and exploring new sounds in the process. The Hip Abduction have devoted themselves to recasting the Reggae and West African musical heritage of the panhandle with modern synthetic overtones. They will perform their newest album, Gold Under the Glow at Sweetwater 420 Festival in Atlanta, happening April 21-23.
The Hip Abduction is an afro-pop/ indie-rock band hailing from St. Petersburg, FL. The sextet places a heavy emphasis on African stringed instruments (kora, ngoni) mixed with dub-reggae bass lines and funky afro-beat percussion making their tropically influenced high-energy performances stand out on festival lineups nationwide. In 2013, The Hip Abduction released a self-titled debut album which landed them at the top of the iTunes and Billboard reggae charts. THA is currently in the studio and looking forward to a follow-up full-album release in early 2016.
