The Brook & The Bluff
independent, 2016
Originally an acoustic duo, the pair quickly became a staple at local venues, turning heads with clean vocals and expert guitar work. Still searching for the right musicians to create a full band, the duo released “The Rough Cuts,” a 3-song acoustic project, in the fall of 2015.
In the spring of 2016, John Canada expanded the group’s sound with percussion and an added voice. The trio instantly locked in and started playing together consistently. After resolving to make something of this ensemble, the trio searched for a bassist to fill the bill. Rip Britton completed The Brook & The Bluff in the summer of 2016.
Now fully equipped, The Brook & The Bluff is passionate about sharing their original music with Birmingham and beyond. The band is working on its first full project and excited about taking the next step in their musical progression.
Featured here is the video for their latest single, “Masks.”

This is the place in which you are called to come and play. This is where you belong.
Such a place exists for Mountain Brook’s Alec Bolton and Bluff Park’s Joe Settine. The acoustic neo-soul duo, The Brook and the Bluff, has found a home in music since returning to Birmingham after graduating from college in 2015. They first collaborated musically at Auburn University performing “songs you didn’t know you…
