MRYGLD w/ Jesse Payne and Future Elevators

MRYGLD (pronounced ‘marigold’) is a rock band from Birmingham, Alabama formed in 2017 by Brandon Snipes (vocals, guitar) and Shane Jewell (lead guitar). Brandishing infectious melodies, arena-ready guitar riffs and driving rhythms, their sound is further distinguished by having two lead singers: Snipes and Alyssa Jewell (vocals, keys).

The Jewells met Snipes in 2015 when they saw him play at a local music festival. A conversation after the show led to instant chemistry over shared musical tastes. After over a year of playing shows together with their respective bands, B. Snipes and Crimson Cabins, they decided to form an epic rock band. After recruiting Kyle Blair (drums) and James McCauley (bass) the lineup was set and MRYGLD was born.

VULCAN AFTERTUNES: AMANDA SHIRES WITH JESSE PAYNE

Amanda Shires is not an entertainer. She isn’t looking to help listeners escape their everyday lives or soundtrack celebrations. She isn’t reaching for celebrity, and she isn’t concerned with cultivating a personal brand. She is an artist in the true sense of the word, meaning she creates because she has a real need for the process of creating.

That is not to say that the songs on My Piece Of Land aren’t entertaining, but that quality is a by-product. The real intention here is to relate. Ms. Shires began her career as a teenager playing fiddle with the Texas Playboys. Since then, she’s toured and recorded with John Prine, Billy Joe Shaver, Todd Snider, Justin Townes Earle, Shovels & Rope, and most recently her husband Jason Isbell. Along the way she’s made three solo albums, each serving to document a particular period in her life while improving on the perceptive qualities of the previous record.

High Five Fest Four with Jesse Payne, Quadrajets and more…

Jesse Payne.
Buffalo. Harmony and balance. Purification observing the healing of vision. The grass of relations drains fast into the inheritance of borrowing. Let the Black Hills be approached with one mind, one heart, and as one people. A starting point. Stemming from mistakes and little victories. Carbon spinning with footprint control. Movement for progress. Rebuild and thrive from lessons woven delicately in our past. There is always a line. Instruct the merriment of symbolism to misplace the baggage of claims. For we are all connected to the Buffalo.

The Buffalo recordings take shape over the course of an extensive touring schedule and personal events unforeseen. We press on… Negatives become our twist. Situations in shift. Stacks of concrete bookend the prairies as time marches. But where? On is abstract.

Jesse Payne stems from a soil deep in the Southeastern region of the United States. He nests in scenic views of trees and mountains blending into valleys of skyscrapers and barns. Canvas for his yellow shade of timeless polaroids transposing over lake and swing suggests an inheritance of owls and their nocturnal solitude. His sound and sight each born from a landscape of heavy cotton hands and autumn chairs.
