If you have any familiarity with the indie rock movement before grunge took over in the early to mid 90s, then you should be familiar with the band featured in this edition of our “Show of the Week.” A fairly late bloomer to the indie rock scene, Boise’s BUILT TO SPILL was formed in 1992. However, they are considered peers among pioneers Sonic Youth, Pixies and Pavement. They can be seen this Friday, May 8th, at the Saturn, Birmingham. Sharing the stage is Wooden Indian Burial Ground and Clarke and the Himselfs. Doors open at 7:00 and tickets are $25.
MPM recommends plugging into this incredible, extended version of Broken Chairs, recorded in 2012 live from the Stage on 6th in Austin, TX.
Built to Spill is touring in support of their 8th studio album, Untethered Moon (Warner Bros., 2015). This is their official video for “Living Zoo” off the album.
