On September 8, Los Angeles-based folk-rock band Dawes came roaring through Birmingham to kick off their U.S. tour at Avondale Brewing Company. With this being their very first tour since the COVID-19 pandemic, the band was in energized form, tearing through highlights off of their entire discography including last year’s Good Luck with Whatever. One particular highlight was their performance of Passwords’s “Feed the Fire”, which turned into a nearly ten-minute-long jam session that was only the second song of the set. Lead singer Taylor Goldsmith sounded better than ever, seemingly rejuvenated after a long time off of the road. He and the band frequently mentioned how cool it was to kick the tour off in Birmingham, and the passionate crowd of fans seemingly agreed.
