Portugal. The Man will be playing a benefit concert organized by NOISE FOR NOW. NOISE FOR NOW is a national initiative that enables performers to connect with, and financially support, grassroots organizations that are dedicated to empowering women
and protecting women’s health and abortion rights. All proceeds from this benefit will go directly to Planned Parenthood Southeast and the Dr. Willie Parker Fund. The band states, “As we tour the world we get to see a lot of different places and with that comes many different attitudes, and it is clear that women’s equality has a long way
to go. We love the way NOISE FOR NOW takes a grassroots approach to making a difference in local communities. We hope we get a lot of people out to the show to help raise money and awareness for equality.”
Planned Parenthood Southeast believes in the fundamental right of each individual to manage his or her fertility, regardless of the individual’s income, marital status, race, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, religion, disability, or residence. PPSE believes that reproductive self-determination must be voluntary, and that such self-determination will contribute to an enhancement of the quality of life and strong family relationships.
Dr. Willie Parker Fund for Abortion Access in the South provides financial assistance to help patients from Mississippi and Alabama access abortion care. As one of the only abortion providers in these regions, Dr. Parker sees the deep burden of restrictive laws that chip away at reproductive freedom reflected in his work every day. He was moved to launch the Dr. Willie Parker Fund to ensure that Southerners are not turned away from providers due to lack of ability to pay, get to clinic and navigate the web of TRAP laws.
This benefit is produced by Red Mountain Entertainment.
